Fruit Detox Diets

What Are Fruit Detox Diets?

Fruit Detox Diets are a great way to cleanse your body, to get rid of toxins in your body and to lose weight. Since a Fruit Detox Diet is high in fiber, it is very easy to digest. Generally, people only go on these diets for a few days to a week. Before you go on any diet, you should always consult with your doctor first to make sure that it is safe for you. Detox diets are great for your liver, because we eat so much fat, sugar and other preservatives on a regular basis, that a detox is necessary to flush these toxins out.

How to do Fruit Detox Diets:

1. Pick Your Fruit - Often people select pears, apples, or white grapes for a Fruit Detox Diet. You should avoid citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons or limes as your fruit, because citrus fruits are much harder on your digestive system. Also, it is best to use an organic fruit if possible.

2. Eat Your Fruit - You should eat small amounts of your fruit all throughout the day to try and maintain a constant blood sugar level. You can eat as much fruit as you would like. Often, people find that after the first couple of days they are not hungry much, which is totally normal. You do not need to force yourself to eat if you do not feel hungry.

3. Drink Lots of Water - Drink as much water as you can. At a very minimum, you should drink 10 glasses of water. Avoid any other types of drinks like soda, juice or even seltzer water.

4. Take Vitamins - You should take a multi-vitamin to help you get nutrients and vitamins that are not in the fruit you are eating. It is especially helpful to take Vitamin C supplements, because it will help your body to make extra glutathione, which helps your liver fight toxins.

The Recipe of the Lemon Detox Diet

Be careful! There are a lot of copycat recipes to the lemon detox diet, but none like this original. A lot of websites have the measurements wrong. I decided to publish this article to educate people and explain the correct recipe of the lemonade for the master cleanse. This is the original, developed by Stanley Burroughs.

Below you will find the recipe as well as some tips and warnings based on my own personal experience, as well as Mr. Burroughs.

This recipe makes 1 days' worth of lemonade. It is not recommended making each glass separately. It's best to make a one big batch in the morning to last you through the day. Do not drink more than this per day.

In a large pitcher mix together:
2 liters water
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
14 tablespoons maple syrup (Grade B maple syrup only)
14 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)

That's it, believe it or not. Mix everything together and you now have a batch of lemonade to last you through the day.

Some people can't stand this much cayenne pepper, its' too spicy for them. To this I'd say, adjust to suite your taste. The cayenne pepper, while still an important part of the recipe, does not have to be 100% correct.

It's best to include the cayenne pepper (even in small amounts) but if you can't stand it at all (or if you are allergic) you can cinnamon as a substitute. I only recommend this if you are allergic. If it's simply the taste you don't like, suck it up!

The juice from the lemon will turn your empty stomach sour. This is to be expected during the first 3 days. After 3 days the hunger pangs should go away and it will be easier on you.

Make sure you use grade b maple syrup only. There are certain nutrient properties that are only found in grade b syrup. Do not adjust the amount of syrup. Using less (and hence cutting the calories) will not help you lose weight faster and will probably screw with your metabolism. You need some nutrients, most of which come from the grade b maple syrup.

There are also some websites that claim you can use honey instead. This is simply not true. Don't use honey. Just follow the recipe as Stanley prescribed and you should be ok. Consult your doctor before going on the Master Cleanse.

That's it! Now you know how to make the lemon detox diet recipe! Go to your supermarket and stock up!

Note: Your local supermarket may not carry grade b maple syrup. If this is the case you can order it online.
